I'm smiling...

"Success is waking up in the morning and bounding out of bed because there's something out there that you love to do, that you believe in, that you're good at--something that's bigger than you are, and you can hardly wait to get at it again." --author unknown

I discovered this awesome quote just a few moments ago when reading a blog from mandylynne.com...she's so talented in her photography that its amazing! My sweet hubby & son gave me the best card & gift for Mother's Day yesterday. They gave me a picture collage from Target that's one of Mandy Lynne's & so today I've been researching about this wonderful artist while my little boy naps. In Mandy Lynne's blog post right before this quote she said, "This quote makes me smile," and you know, it really made me smile & feel happy, too. After the quote she said, "I love this feeling! How about you...what makes you feel inspired and alive?" My thoughts were mirroring her sentiments exactly and made me want to get creative and do something that makes me happy & brings a smile to my lips. So, I think I'm going to work on that...soon...but right now I need to attend to some of my duties at home & wash the dishes! Ugh, oh well--they need to be done, right!? Take care & I'll be back soon!

Creating is a Constant

Even when I'm not actually making something & putting it together, I think I'm still in the process of creating. My mind is constantly thinking of things I can make or scrapbooks I can put together...if only I had the time for it all! Creating is a process and I've learned it's a more drawn-out process when you have a VERY busy 2 1/2 yr old to care for along with all the other tasks that come with being a stay-at-home mommy and a wife. Back in my single days I had all the time in the world to come up with a new scrapbook page or book or card. And, now it's a challenge at times (more often than not really)--so I need to take on this challenge & start doing more of my creations! Hmmm...let's see how this goes over the next while! Take care!

Here's the front of the Valentine Card I sent out to family & a few friends(above).
Here's what the card looks like when you open the first flap...It's a picture of Shaner, of course!
And, this last picture is what it looks like when you open the card all the way.

Valentine cards...

Well, I've been trying to get some of my Valentine cards posted on here all morning, but it hasn't quite turned out that way. My helpful 2 1/2 yr old has rather inhibited my work, so I will need to continue this later today--possibly during his nap! More to come later....

Happy times

I am the most content when I am working on projects. While working on some of my projects I feel the most relaxed, too. It's almost like my cares float away on the wings of a bird while I'm in the middle of being creative & putting together new projects. If only I could do them all the time...!)

Projects I've done recently...

The first picture is from my booth at Candy Cane Lane--it was a holiday boutique in town. It was a lot of fun doing the boutique & getting some of my projects out there for people to see. The booth started at the beginning of November 2010 & ended on Christmas Eve 2010. This is my Christmas tree creation! This was our tree for Christmas 2010 & I loved it! My son is a VERY active & creative 2yr old so we decided to wait another year for a traditional Christmas tree. Instead we had this tree that we hung on the wall. The tree was about 3ft tall made out of plywood and I decorated it with scrapbook paper & other embellishments to make it festive for Christmas!
The next two pictures are of my jewelry hair bow holders I designed. The first photo shows jewelry & a hair bow hanging from it. I'd been trying to come up w/an idea to store jewelry in some way other than a jewelry box...So, I came up w/this creation by using a frame, a piece of wood, scrapbook paper, hooks for the necklaces & rick rack/lace type embellishments(hot glued on to the scrapbook paper) to hang the earrings or hair bows/flowers from in the frame. I think they turned out very cute!

Photo #2 of the jewelry hair bow/flower holder shows it without the jewelry.

Here's another view of how my booth looked for the holiday boutique. This was how I put it together at my house before I went to the store to set it up.

Here's a thank you card I made to send to a friend.

Good Afternoon! The photo above is a picture of a notebook I covered as a thank you gift to a friend of my husband's. She let us stay at her home in Heber City, UT not too long ago. Hi welcomed us into her home and treated us as if we were a part of her own family. I now consider her my friend as well.
Well, I've got to go...my little boy just woke up from his nap...mothertime calls! Have a great rest of your day!

Go & Find That Change!

This blog is supposed to help me w/my creativity in making cards, notebooks, scrapbooks, etc.. I think the title fits quite well for this, also. I need to 'go & find that change.' I came across an email from Lesley, my wombmate, that she sent me almost a year ago--it was April 14, 2009. She said, "So much change is about ready to come for you. Or it is more like you are going to it. You are going and finding that change!" Those words have really hit me so I felt like writing about them here on his creative blog of mine.

Change is not such a bad thing in life. Sometimes it just comes along--other times we go out and seek it--kinda like what my sister was referring to w/my move to Montana. I was embarking on a big change in my life. I had just gotten married to the love of my life the month before...and now, we(me, Dustin & Shane-our son) were moving 3 1/2 hrs away from family & living in the middle of nowhere for a new job. I would be a stay-at-home mom to Shane & that was something I'd never done before. I've always worked ever since forever.

Now a year later we are finding ourselves moving back to Idaho...and the feeling I get just knowing that is very calming. Moving back to where we're from--is comforting. It's also a change, but we will succeed in one way or another.

I have learned that change happens no matter what. We just have to learn how to handle it and figure out how to embrace it. As my sis said, we need to go out & find that change!

I hope all these changes in my life will influence me for the better so I can be the best person I possibly can. Change is good--that's what I keep telling myself. And, all these changes will help me in my creativity w/my card making & scrapbooking projects. Change brings about more change which in turn helps my creativity flow more into projects of my life & what matters to me or catches my interest.

So, let's all go out and find that change!
